Gardening at the Austin Buddhist Vihara

Parents and children worked together to do spring planting and gardening at the Austin Buddhist Vihara. Vegetables, herbs, and fruit were planted in two raised beds in the backyard of the temple to provide fresh produce for the monks and devotees of the temple. The raised beds were built and prepared by 2-3 families in advance of the gardening day. Dozens of flowering plants were planted in pots of various sizes and placed in the front of the temple to beautify the entryway and stupa area.
